Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math.
Learn about each class below.

Social Studies

Welcome to the Social Studies Class!

Social studies is the study of society: how people live together and organize themselves.

The Social Studies GED/HiSet test will measure your understanding of the history, economics and geography of the United States, and some world issues too.

The test will also measure how well you can compare beliefs, facts and opinions. So at the end of each of these lessons, there is a quiz for you to complete. The quizzes will help you practice for your GED/HiSet tests because they ask the same type of questions you will be asked in the real test. Our quizzes will also show you if you have understood the material in the lesson.

Some questions are easy and some are more difficult. After you answer questions, you will receive the correct answer. If your answer is right, it will be green. If it is wrong, it will be red and the correct answer will be green.

Please do not worry if you get a lot of wrong answers. You can do the tests as many times as you like. Or you can keep going, and then go back and do the whole course again. The most important thing is to keep practicing, whenever you have time. And please remember: we are here to help you if you have questions.

Welcome to the Basic Math GED/HiSET preparation class!

This class will prepare you to learn the GED or HiSet math topics. It will develop your test-taking and critical thinking skills. Test-taking and critical thinking skills will help you in all the GED/ HiSET subjects.

About the GED and HiSET tests

The GED and HiSET math tests measure your ability to understand math concepts and apply math to solve problems and answer questions.

The math tests will cover problem solving with numbers and with algebra. The test includes questions that test skills and procedures, as well as problem solving.

During the test, you will have an on-screen calculator, a reference sheet, and a small board and pen to write on and erase.

The test will take you 115 minutes. You will have to answer five questions without a calculator. Then, you can use a calculator for the rest of the questions (41 more).

Basic math

This online preparation class is divided into two parts. This class is the first part. The class teaches basic math skills. You will use these basic math skills to learn and study for the GED and HiSET math material. Basic math skills will help you understand and remember the math that is on the test.

At the end of each lesson, there is a quiz for you to complete. The quizzes will help you practice for your GED/HiSet tests. The quizzes also show you if you understood the material in the lesson.

This class will prepare you for all types of questions. The quizzes ask the same type of questions you will be asked in the real test.

Language Arts

Welcome to the GED/HiSet Language Arts Preparation class!

Language Arts means learning how to use language – in this case, the English language – to communicate well. It means being able to understand what you are reading. It means expressing your ideas to other people clearly, so they know what you mean, and using correct English.

This course will prepare you to pass the GED or HiSet Language Arts section, and it will develop your test-taking and critical thinking skills. So it will help you with the other sections, too.

The Language Arts test will measure how well you understand and compare facts and opinions. It will have questions that require careful reading of text. It will have other questions that test your use of English grammar. Finally, your Language Arts test will require you to write an essay. So this Language Arts unit has three sections: reading, grammar, and writing.

At the end of each lesson, there is a quiz for you to complete. The quizzes will help you practice for your GED/HiSet tests because they ask the same type of questions you will be asked in the real test. Our quizzes will also show you if you have understood the material in the lesson.

Some questions are easy and some are more difficult. After most questions, you will receive the correct answer. If your answer is right, it will be green. If it is wrong, it will be red, and the correct answer will be green.

For some questions, there is no wrong or right answer. For these questions, you will write an essay. It is very important to practice writing these essays because they will be a part of your GED/HiSet test.

Please do not worry if you get a lot of wrong answers. You can do the tests as many times as you like. Or you can keep going, and then go back and do the whole course again. The most important thing is to keep practicing, whenever you have time. And please remember: we are here to help you if you have questions.

Science

Welcome to the GED/HiSet Science Preparation class!

Science is the study of the world around us.

This class will help you to understand what science is and how people do scientific research. The class will introduce you to physics, biology, and chemistry. You will learn about earth sciences and about outer-space.

You don’t need to remember everything, but it will help you in your test to be familiar with some current scientific issues.

When you take the science section of your test, most of the questions will ask you to read a scientific text and answer questions about it. We want to prepare you to read and understand unfamiliar scientific material. So at the end of each of these lessons, there is a quiz for you to complete. The quizzes will help you practice for your GED/HiSet tests because they ask the same type of questions you will be asked in the real test. Our quizzes will also show if you have understood the material in the lesson.

Some questions are easy and some are more difficult. After most questions, you will receive the correct answer. If your answer is right, it will be green. If it is wrong, it will be red and the correct answer will be green.

A note about scientific words: science uses many difficult, long words that we do not hear every day. Even many native English speakers don’t know what these words mean. At the end of each lesson, you will find a vocabulary review to help you with the meaning of some of these words. Do not be discouraged if there are other words in the lesson you do not understand. Instead, look them up! Here is an online dictionary that explains words as simply as possible.

For some questions, there is no wrong or right answer. For these questions, you will write a few sentences or even a long essay. It is very important to practice writing these essays because they will a part of your GED/HiSet tests.

Please do not worry if you get a lot of wrong answers. You can do the tests as many times as you like. Or you can keep going, and then go back and do the whole course again. The most important thing is to keep practicing, whenever you have time. And please remember: we are here to help you if you have questions.
